Yarn

  • Color A: 50g bulky size 6 velvet yarn (I used Baby Snuggle in Teddy Bear)
  • Color B: 50g super bulky size 6 velvet yarn (I used Baby Snuggle in Sunshine)
  • Color C: 50g super bulky size 6 velvet yarn (I used Baby Snuggle in White)
  • Color D: 5 yards medium size 4 yarn (Black)
  • Color E: 5 yards medium size 4 yarn (White)

 

  • Hooks 5.5mm hook
  • Darning needle
  • Scissors
  • Fabric pins
  • Stitch Marker
  • Fiberfill (approx 24oz)
  • 14mm safety eyes

*Start Stuffing*

*Sist and tie off. Leave 12″   strand of yarn for sewing*

1) Take a safety eye and place it between Rounds 3 and 4. Complete on both eyes.

2) Using fabric pins, place eyes on Rounds 2-5 placed slightly more forward (towards the face) on the top of the head with the safety eyes facing forward.

3) Using a darning needle, sew on the eye halfway.

4) Once sewn on halfway, stuff with fiber fill to desired fullness. Then continue to sew on until fully attached. Tie off and weave in ends.

BELLY PLATE

*Colour C Yarn*

  • Rnd 1: mr, sc 6  (6)
  • Rnd 2: [inc] x6  (12)
  • Rnd 3: [sc, inc] x6   (18)
  • Rnd 4: sc 18   (18)

*Sist and tie off. Leave 16″ strand of yarn to sew*

1) Using fabric pins, attach the belly plate to Round 7-12 of the body, centered between the eyes.

2) Using a darning needle, sew belly plate onto the body. Once sewn on, tie off and weave in ends.

SMILE AND EYE DETAIL

1) Take your Colour D yarn and a darning needle and insert it into the bottom of Round 3 approx 3 stitches from the eye.

2) Then insert it one Round down and 2-3 stitches over and then push it up one round and over 2-3 stitches again on the other side.

3) Insert into the middle point and then push the needle back over to where you started. Tie together and weave in yarn ends.

EYE DETAIL

1) Using Colour E Yarn and a darning needle, insert the needle into the bottom centre of the safety eye as close as you can get.

2) Then insert the needle onto the top center of the safety eye as close as you can get. Tie ends together and weave in.

3) Complete on both eyes.

ARMS X2

  • Rnd 1: mr, sc 6  (6)
  • Rnd 2: sc 6  (6)

*Sist and tie off. Leave 12″  strand of yarn to sew on*

1) Make two arms

2) Using fabric pins, attach arms to Round 7-8, in line with the front of the eye and approximately 4 stitches from the belly plate.

3) Using a darning needle sew on. This shouldn’t need more stuffing other than the yarn end however if it does need some, fill now before fully sewing the arm on. Tie off and weave in ends.

LEGS X2

5.5mm hook, bulky Yarn

*Colour A Yarn*

  • Rnd 1: mr, sc 8  (8)
  • Rnd 2-3: sc 8   (8)

*Slst and tie off. Leave 12″ strand of yarn to sew on*

1) Make two legs.

2) Using fabric pins, attach the legs to Rounds 11-13 directly below the arms.

3) Using a darning needle, sew on the legs. Once halfway sewn on, stuff if desired.

4) You may stop here if you want to add the sunflower part! don’t

SUNFLOWER LEAVES X9 (OPTIONAL)

*Colour B Yarn*

  • Rnd 1: mr, sc 4   (4)
  • Rnd 2: [sc, inc] x2  (6)
  • Rnd 3: [sc, inc] x3  (9)
  • Rnd 4: [sc 2, inc] x3  (12)
  • Rnd 5-6: sc 12  (12)
  • Rnd 7: [dec] x6   (6)

*Sist and tie off. Leave  12″ strand of yarn to sew  on*

1) Make 9 leaves.

2) You want to sew the center down. Using a darning needle and Colour B Yarn, insert In through the bottom of Round 5

3) Then, insert the needle one stitch up from the first one in step 2.

4) You should have both strands of yarn on one side. Tie and knot and pull tight; weave in ends. Complete this on all 9 leaves. If desired, you can sew the edges (Round 7) together before sewing onto the frog.

SUNFLOWER LEAVES CONT.

5.5mm hook, bulky yarn

1) Using fabric pins, attach the first leaf to the top of the head on Round 2, directly between the eyes..

2) The leaves should be sewn on as close as possible to the back of the eyes, arms, and legs. Doing that should make your sunflower even.

3) Using a darning needle, sew the first leaf on. Sew all 9 leaves on working your way down the side of the head/body as previously mentioned, to sew them on as close to the body parts as possible. Once sewn on, tie off and weave in ends.
