Pattern (US Terminology)

1. Legs (Make 2):

Round 1: Using yellow yarn, create a magic ring and crochet 6 single crochets into it. (6 sts)

Round 2: Single crochet all around. (6 sts)

Round 3: Repeat Round 2. (6 sts)

After completing the first leg, fasten off and leave a tail. For the second leg, do not fasten off as we will join them together next.

2. Joining Legs:

Bring the two legs together.

  • Insert the hook after the stitch marker on the first leg.
  • Crochet 3 single crochets on the first leg, then an increase (2 single crochet in the same stitch), followed by 4 single crochets.
  • Move to the second leg, crochet another increase, followed by 3 single crochets to finish the round. (14 sts)

3. Body:

Round 5: Single crochet all around. (14 sts)

Round 6: Start with 4 single crochets, then a bobble stitch. To make a bobble stitch:

  • Yarn over, insert the hook, pull through, and pull through two loops. Repeat this 3 more times to have 5 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 5 loops.
Continue with 4 single crochets, another bobble stitch, and 4 single crochets. (14 sts)

Round 7-8: Single crochet all around. (14 sts)

On the last stitch of Round 8, don’t complete it. Leave 2 loops on the hook to switch to white yarn.

Round 9: Switch to white yarn, do the first single crochet in white, then 3 more single crochets.

  • Perform an invisible decrease: Insert hook in front loop of the first stitch and in front loop of the second stitch, pull through both loops, then complete the single crochet.
  • Continue with 3 single crochets, another invisible decrease, and 3 single crochets to finish the round. (12 sts)

Attach the safety eyes between rounds 7 and 8, just above the bobble stitches. Place them 2-3 stitches apart.

4. Adding the Facial Features:

Smile: Use black acrylic yarn.

  • Insert the needle from inside out below one eye, then across to under the other eye.
  • Come out 1 stitch down in the middle and secure the yarn by tying it off inside.

5. Body (cont’d):

Round 10: Make 4 single crochets, an invisible decrease, 3 single crochets, another decrease, and 1 single crochet. (10 sts)

Stuff the body.

Round 11: 3 single crochets and a decrease two times. (8 sts)

6. Closing:

  • Finish stuffing the plushy and fasten off.
  • To close the hole, weave through the front loops of the remaining stitches, gradually pulling it tight to close. Secure by weaving in and out a few stitches, then cutting off the excess and hiding the tail.

7. Attaching Keychain:

  • Using white acrylic yarn, thread your needle.
  • Insert it slightly off-center, loop through the end of the keychain, and sew it securely to the body by repeatedly threading through different stitches.
  • Tie a knot with the ends inside the body, and cut the yarn to hide the ends.

Your candy corn keychain buddy is complete! Enjoy your creation.
