Simple Crochet Easy Bow Pattern

Materials Needed
- Bulky Yarn (Size 5), but any yarn will work
- 6 mm Crochet Hook
- Yarn Needle
- Scissors
Bow Pattern
Step 1: Make the Base Strip
Create a Slip Knot:
- Make a loop, insert your hook into the loop, grab the yarn, and pull through to tighten.
Chain 41:
- Yarn over, pull through the loop on your hook, and repeat until you have 41 chains.
Half Double Crochets (HDC):
- Yarn over, insert hook into the second chain from the hook, yarn over again, pull up a loop (three loops on hook), yarn over, and pull through all three loops on the hook.
Continue with half double crochets across the chain. You should have 40 HDCs by the end.
Step 2: Continue Rows
Chain 1 and Turn Your Work.
- Each row will begin with a chain 1 and will use half double crochets starting from the second stitch from the hook.
- Repeat this process until you have completed 8 rows in total.
Finish Off the Base Strip:
- Chain 1 after completing the last row, pull the yarn through, cut it off, and tighten.
Step 3: Create the Smaller Strip
Chain 41 Again:
- Repeat chaining 41 and follow the same HDC pattern, but this time only make 3 rows.
Finish Off the Small Strip:
- Chain 1 after completing the last row, pull the yarn through, cut it off, and tighten.
Assembling the Bow
Sew the Base Strip:
- Fold the base strip in half, thread a yarn needle with yarn, and sew the sides together while hiding the yarn ends.
Sew the Small Strip:
- Handle the smaller strip the same way by folding it in half and sewing the sides together while hiding the yarn ends.
Wrap Yarn Around the Base Strip:
- Use a piece of yarn to tightly wrap around the center of the larger piece. Tie it securely with knots on the backside.
Attach Small Strip to Base Strip:
- Place the smaller strip in the center of the bow (underneath the yarn wrapping) and use the same yarn to wrap around both pieces, securing them together at the center.
Create the Bow Center
Step 1: Make a Small Wrap
Create a Smaller Piece:
- Chain 12 stitches and make 2 rows of half double crochets to create a small strip.
Finish Off the Small Wrap:
Chain 1, pull the yarn through, cut it off, and weave in the ends.
Step 2: Sew the Small Wrap
Position and Turn:
- Lay the small wrap on the bow and turn the bow piece around.
- Match the ends of the small wrap.
Sew Edges Together:
- Sew the ends together, hiding and cutting off any excess yarn.
- Optional Hanging Loop
Create a Loop:
- You can use yarn to create a loop if you’d like to hang the bow. Simply insert a piece of yarn under the center wrapping and tie it securely.
Final Adjustment
Adjust the Bow Shape:
- Make sure the bow and the strips are shaped nicely; you can twist them if needed.
