Making Your Crochet Christmas Donut

Materials

2,25 mm hook (US B)
Fingering weight yarn in brown, green, yellow and black
A small amount of yarn or floss in red, yellow, blue and black
6 mm safety eyes
Stuffing
Sewing needle
Pair of scissors

Step-by-step Pattern

Top part

With green ch 18, join with a sl st (leave a long tail at the beginning to use for sewing the inner hole).
R1 sc in each ch (18)
R2 sc around (18)
R3 [sc 2, inc] x 6 (24)
R4 [sc 3, inc] x 6 (30)
R5 [sc 4, inc] x 6 (36)
R6 [sc 5, inc] x 6 (42)
R7 [sc 6, inc] x 6 (48)
R8-9 sc around (48) 2 rounds
R10 in FLO, *sl st, hdc 3 times in next, skip 1*, repeat ** 16 times
…Sl st in the next st and FO leaving a very long tail for O sewing.
Place the eyes between R5 and R6 approximately 5-7 stitches apart.
With black yarn or floss, embroider the mouth on R6.

Bottom part

With brown ch 18 and join with a sl st. Repeat R1-9 of the top part.
FO and weave in ends.
Align the top and bottom with the wrong sides facing each other. Sew them together. Stuff is very firmly shaped as you go.

Arms (make 2)

Long: With black ch 25.
Short: With black ch 10.
FO leaving a long tail for sewing.
Sew the star onto the top.
Sew the long cord, making a “<” shape. Then sew the short cord on the other side of the donut (see pictures of the finished donut for reference).
Embroider the lights with yellow, blue and red yarn.
