Charming Crochet Easter Basket Pattern

Materials Needed:

Universal Yarn (or alternative yarns mentioned in the description)
Lion Brand yarn (light pink) with multi-colors
Two balls of medium four-way yarn
Stitch marker
6mm J crochet hook

Instructions:

Magic Loop

Begin with a magic loop, leaving a lot of yarn because of the thick yarn.
If unsure about the magic loop, there will be another video available for this step.

Round 1

Chain 3 (does not count as a stitch).
Work 12 double crochets into the magic loop.
Pull the tail yarn to tighten the center.
Join to the first double crochet with a slip stitch.

Round 2

Start with a chain 3.
Work 2 double crochets into each stitch around (you should have 24 double crochets at the end).
Use a stitch marker to keep track of the start of the round.

For Round 3

Start with 1 double crochet in the first stitch, then move your stitch marker up.
Work 2 double crochets in the next stitch.
Continue this pattern (1 double crochet in one stitch, 2 double crochets in the next) around the row.
You will end up with 36 double crochets.

For Round 4

Start with 1 double crochet in each of the first two stitches.
Work 2 double crochets in the next stitch.
Continue this pattern (1 double crochet in each of the next two stitches, 2 double crochets in the next) around the row.
You will end up with 48 double crochets.

Round 5

Start with 1 double crochet in each of the first three stitches.
Work 2 double crochets in the next stitch.
Continue this pattern (1 double crochet in each of the next three stitches, 2 double crochets in the next) around the row.
End with 60 double crochets.

For Round 6 (Last Increase Round)

Start with 1 double crochet in each of the first four stitches.
Work 2 double crochets in the next stitch.
Continue this pattern (1 double crochet in each of the next four stitches, 2 double crochets in the next) around the row.
End with 72 double crochets.

Round 7 onwards (Creating the Basket Side)

No increases in this round.
Work 1 double crochet in every stitch around until you reach the desired height of the basket.

Strap Formation

Work over 8 stitches, marking another 8 stitches on the other side using a stitch marker.
Work back and forth in rows, each consisting of 8 double crochets.
Continue until you have reached the desired strap length (for the tutorial, 16 rows were worked).

Attaching the Strap

Turn the basket inside out.
Slip stitch the end of the strap to the corresponding 8 stitches on the opposite side of the basket.
Ensure you align both sides properly and slip stitch through both the strap and the basket stitches.
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
