World Stationery Day #StationeryTheWorldOver

I’ve been pondering what to share for today’s post because as well as National Stationery Week, it’s also World Stationery Day! Even though there are a ton of amazing stationery brands all around the world, I really want to celebrate 5 of the best British stationery companies because we do stationery really really well here!

5 British Stationery Brands You Shouldn't Miss Claireabellemakes One of my first ever planners as a teen (besides the FunFax) was a pink Filofax pocket with a matching pen. Many people may remember Filofax as a traditional brand with classic leather colours and styles. However, their latest collections and notebooks draw on beautiful pastel tones and on-trend metallics. In short, they’ve nailed it! Check out the Filofax website here.

I’ve spoken about Hello Day many a time here on the blog, but Kirsten works incredibly hard to bring the most stylish planners to her customers every year. Can you spot my Planner Junkie pin below too?

Martha Brook is an award winning London based stationer, who specialise in foiled and personalised notebooks, planners, calendars and more. It’s all SO pretty, so well worth checking out.

If you’re ever looking for tongue-in-check pencils (Don’t be a knobhead is one!), personalised pencil cases and a fantastic range of handmade greetings cards, Oh Squirrel has to be a first stop. Katie has such a passion for what she does and a great eye for print, colour and sometimes glitter. Plus she’s an absolute sweetheart and always up for a chat at markets.

And my final pick for the best of British is the Old English Company. They are typography experts and have just created a line of planners that look so classy! They are also running a competition to win a set of planners right here so I agreed to share it with you – my fellow stationery addicts!

National Stationery Week #PenAndPencil

Today’s National Stationery Week post is a look at my favourite pens and pencils. In addition, I wanted to share with you that the NatStatWeek folks have teamed up with Staedtler to run a competition to win a big stationery bundle so be sure to check that out too!

So I couldn’t have a pen and pencil post without mentioning my latest pencils in the shop. I want to create even more positive slogan pencils – so do let me know if there are any phrases or colours you’d like to see. Make-Some-Fun-Plans-PencilMake-Some-Fun-Plans-PencilsSome pencils you don’t want to miss are these monochrome beauties from indie planner company Hello Day . The gold tips make them super luxurious and they come with a chic sleeve too.

Also from the Hello Day collections is this gold hexagon pen. I can’t resist metallic pens – they just feel super special! I’ve also been informed that Hello Day will be releasing Academic planners for pre-orders very soon! Don’t worry I’ll be sure to give you a full review 🙂  Next up is the Uni Ball Signo Gel Rollerball Pens in the Angelic Pastel Colours. These guys are gel pens, but they have a kind of paint like finish. This makes the colours super pigmented (see the rainbow in the background below!).Rainbow-Pastel-Gel-Pens Uni-Ball-Pastel-Gel-pens The Posca Paint Pens are a great craft pen for so many surfaces! They use a water-basked pigment ink to write on metal, glass, plastic, stone, fabric, you name it. I made this decorated pen pot using mine and I love to use them on our meal planning chalkboards at home.  DIY-Decorated-Pen-PotsAnother favourite shop for metallic luxury pens is kikki.K. Their pens are often refillable too and they release new collections each season. I love going in store to kikki.K because everything they sell looks so pretty up close! Mixed-Metallic-Pens-kikki.KFor lettering and colouring, I love using the Paper Mate Flair pens – their colour selections are just awesome! I keep mine in this multi layer pen storage case which zips up and stores TONS of pens. It even fits the Tombow Dual Brush pens which are favourites of mine too.
Pen-Case-For-Papermate-FlairsSo there you have it, all my faves in one place! I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations for me to try – I can’t be done in adding to my pen collection right?! Custom-Slogan-Pencil-Orders-ClaireabellemakesI’ll be back tomorrow with a peek at some indie stationery finds from around the world!

National Stationery Week #MakeANote

It’s National Stationery Week here in the UK! This week is the perfect chance for me to share all my favourite paper goods with you and to geek out. There will be a post every day of the week so stay tuned! I’ll also be sharing links to events, shops and suppliers that you wont want to miss.

Today’s #makeanote prompt for National Stationery Week is a chance for us to share our notebooks with you. I’m now two years into Bullet Journaling in the Leuchtturm 1917 Notebooks and I have found it to be a perfect and inexpensive way to stay organised and creative all at once.

Here are a few of my favourite Bullet Journal Spreads!

March-Bullet-Journal-SpreadI don’t just use my notebook for Bullet Journal weekly spreads. I also plan out product ideas and use it as a sketch book. Here’s my design process for the planner pin collection I released in 2017. Available in my shop here.

I am a big fan of the pastel coloured Tombow Dual Brush pens, but I’ve also been eyeing up my pal Nikki’s new stationery supply shop on Etsy for more items! It just opened, but I’m told there will be lots more goodies added in the near future. Definitely one to add to your favourites! Travel journal spreads are something I’d love to do more of. We still need to plan a holiday this year- we’re after a sunny break I think so do send your suggestions for places to go! There are a few Bullet Journal videos on my YouTube channel where I also shared my experience with using these stencils and my favourite Muji Gel Pens

I just started a new Bullet Journal notebook this month and I love this future log spread and the rainbow colour scheme I created! G and I use a shared Google calendar to keep up to date with future plans, but I love having this to flick back to each month too.

Thanks for letting me share my Bullet Journal notebook today! You can follow along with National Stationery Week by searching the #NatStatWeek tag on social media and take a look at #MakeANote to see how everyone is using their notebooks today!

I’m also going to be recommending an event at the end of each daily blog post, so keep reading until the end each day to find out more.

5 Planners To Keep You Organised In 2018

If you’ve been a follower for a while, you know I can’t talk about the new year without talking about planners! This year, I wanted to share some fantastic planner picks with you as well as links to more in depth reviews in case you are still searching for the one!

5 Planner Picks for 2018

  1. The Imperfect Life Planner

It’s not often you come across someone who has your nodding along like the Churchill dog because you just love what they have to say! Stationery queen Kerry Lyons created The Imperfect Life planner from a Kickstarter campaign to allow us to make mistakes and embrace them.

2. kikki.K Ring Bound Planners

I love using ring bound planners for my development and this spotty kikki.K copper zip planner is great for holding all my training notes for business courses. Ring bound gives me the opportunity to switch pages in and out and create divided sections for different topics.
kikki.K-Zipped-Foil-PlannerThe kikki.K planners always come in such pretty designs and they change up their collections regularly. At the time of writing, I believe this planner was in the January sale and how can one resist metallics and stickers?!kikki.K-Planner-Stickers

3. Hello Day

I started working with Hello Day Planners last year to promote their beautiful collections and I’m thrilled to share the new collections for 2018. If sleek designs and dreamy monochrome is your bag – these planners are for you. Each one is spiral bound and available in a minimal layout or with more detailed pages.
Palma IG Hexx IG Tate IGThis year Hello Day have added stationery items to their offering including classy pencils, gold scissors and hexagonal gold pens. Luxury stationery at its finest!

4. Travelers Notebook (TN)

One of the biggest trends in the planner community right now, the Travelers Notebook allows you to hold a collection of notebooks together with elastics or ‘strings’. You can buy diary inserts, dotted pages, you name it. Even DIY your own inserts!

This fabric version was from a shop called Lilac and Dot on Etsy, but the seller isn’t making TN’s anymore. However, just a simple search for TN’s on Etsy will bring up so many beautiful fabric and leather versions.

I’ll be using a TN in 2018 for creative journalling. More on this in another post soon!

5. Bullet Journaling

And finally the wonderful Bullet Journal! I can honestly say that I found planner peace in 2017 as I stayed with Bullet Journaling all year! Previously I was something of a fickle planner, switching up my rings and pages every few months. Using my BuJo kept me on track with more realistic to do lists and I was the most productive and in control I had ever been!

I highly recommend the A5 Leuchtturm Dotted Notebooks as the perfect Bullet Journal – it has a contents page and fantastic paper quality.

Getting creative with my BuJo was fun too and it even inspired the pin design for my planner pins collection.

You can watch my most viewed Bullet Journaling video here:

And even though I said I’d share 5 planners, I’m sneaking a 6th planner here just in case disc-bound is your thing! The Busy Days Planner is a great option for decorative planners who also enjoy space for journaling. Watch my video review here:

I’d love to hear your planner choice for 2018 – or maybe you are a scraps of paper/write notes on an old envelope person….no judgement here!
