Mail Swap: The Nerdy Girlie

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you will know I adore snail mail. G doesn’t really understand how excited I get about post. Maybe it’s a girl thing…

Anyway, my Twitter pal Megan and I decided to do a mail swap as she adores all things England and I love receiving things from North America. Their washi tape is so much better!

Megan writes her blog The Nerdy Girlie from sunny San Diego, so the first item I saw when I opened her package was a magazine all about her city. I must admit, I’m a little jealous of the sunny weather they have all year round, but I’m looking forward to reading it.

We both sent tea – duh we are bloggers, of course we sent tea. With a few bad migraines lately, I could do with a cup of this soothing tea.

Of course you can’t do a mail swap without postcards! I really want a burger now…..

Megan knows I love stationery, so she found me these adorable cat thank you cards and washi tape! The heart one is already in my FiloFax for V day. The chocolates did not last long. They were from a local store in Megan’s neighbourhood.

You can see what I sent Megan right here. She is a huge Dr Who fan so I had a great time shopping in the comic book store for her. There was SO much I could have bought Megan, she is the easiest person to buy for!

Thank you Megan for my wonderful parcel! I adore everything and couldn’t contain my squeals when the postie arrived with the package. He laughed at my post excitement.

You can see other mail swap posts on my blog here and see a mail swap project that Vivid Please are running here (sign up closes 16 February). Also, I was awarded star of the month for the #PostCircle project run by Miss Beatrix! I can’t quite believe it, I’ve never been a star of anything. I might have to make a paper crown and have it rain envelope confetti. Oh yes, it’s totally gone to my head.

I’m signing off until Monday now, but tomorrow’s post is the next guest DIY blogger for my Share The Love month. It is a good ‘un and I’m pretty excited!

Have you entered my giveaway yet?! Also, I’ve had some updates on the technical side of the blog, so if you were following via a WordPress reader, you will only see new posts. You can sign up to my blog by email in the right hand column in case you aren’t sure how to follow.

Mailswap with Sparklegirl

I was in the post office a while back and saw they were selling some postcards which I knew my blogger friend Jen would love. I immediately tweeted her a picture and we agreed to do a mail swap.

Oh I do love a blogger mail swap. We agreed that the parcels had to contain sweets! Here’s what Jen sent me….

How cute are these Hello Kitty greeting cards? The one on the right seems relevant for this week in the UK as we’ve had plenty of showers this past week.

The orange packets were chocolate sticks (like Cadbury’s fingers) and Rockets are the Canadian equivalent of Fizzers in the UK.

Rockets Candy Sweets

I loved these Belly Flop jelly beans! They are basically the odd ones that didn’t shape properly, but they still taste awesome and sometimes I would get two that were stuck together, WIN. The Green Thumb candies were chewy and very tasty.

No mail swap is complete without tea! Jen was an utter star and sent me maple and pumpkin spice tea, as well as some David’s Tea sachets. WOOP! They don’t deliver to the UK so I love getting some David’s Tea.

Here’s a little preview of the parcel I sent to Jen. You can see inside the package on Jen’s blog here!

Meet.Make.Laugh Mail Swap

About a month ago I wrote a review for the Girls’ Night In book and one of my lovely Canadian bloggy pals Stephanie from Meet.Make.Laugh left a comment.

Stephanie writes the blog with two friends Hayley and Cindy writing about their girls’ nights in together and crafty goings on in their lives. I knew the book would be perfect for them, so contacted Stephanie to see if she wanted to do a mail swap with me.

This week, my package arrived all the way from Victoria, BC and to say I was excited to open it was an understatement. Each item was wrapped in brown paper with a yarn tie and had a clue for what was inside…..

Tammy seemed to like the handmade parcel (she is a craft cat of course!).

The card was utterly perfect. Scrabble tiles! SO me.

I am a huge fan of maple syrup so I spent a good few minutes staring at this maple bacon flavoured sea salt saying “on my word” over and over again. It sounds delicious and I can’t wait to put it on some ice cream!

And come on guys…that notebook could not be any more perfect for me. Mint AND bicycles…

We agreed on one handmade item per package and I was super excited to see what the girls had enclosed. Stephanie had knitted me this beautiful beanie hat (or toque as the Canadians call it) in a gorgeous teal blue colour. The loose knit is great for Spring. Plus I was totally having a bad hair day Sunday and it was really windy so the hat had an outing.

When I visited Vancouver at Christmas I crammed my suitcase full of Davids Tea as they don’t ship to the UK. They girls had sent me a selection box which I cannot wait to get started on.

G laughs as our coffee cupboard is no more. Since I gave up caffeine it is filled with tea and now makes me look like an utter tea freak. Which I am.

I’m totally overwhelmed with my package from the Meet.Make.Laugh girls. Thank you SO SO much! I love making blogging friends across the water and am so grateful for all the support they give my blog. Thanks girls 🙂

Please make sure you stop by the Meet.Make.Laugh blog to see what I sent Stephanie, Cindy and Hayley!
