July Favourites 2014

It’s time for another favourites post to share what I’ve been loving this month.

New camera! Before this one I had the Canon EOS 400D which is around 8 years old. I think I had it for about 6 years and I learnt a ton about photography in that time. There’s always more to learn though! (I recently took a course and I’m starting video editing in Sept!)

My new camera is the Canon EOS 1200D which has video capabilities. All my previous lenses fit and I was able to get a good deal with a free tripod and camera bag too.

Staying on the camera theme, I got this cute little case for my Fuji Film Mini Instax to keep it protected.

It bugs me that it is a different shade of pink to the camera though! I guess that’s the risk with buying online.

A fellow blogger and I did a parcel swap recently and in mine was this fab bicycle cup from Sainsburys. I’ve been using it non stop.

A friend shared a fab geeky cross stitch shop with me this month and I couldn’t resist getting a pattern! You can find a huge selection at Clouds Factory here. Goodness knows when I’ll have time to sit and stitch!

I feel like I’ve been searching for a decent glue runner forever. The ones in the US are so much better. I found this super sticky Crafter’s Companion one in Hobbycraft but it’s also available on Amazon. Stationery makes me happy alright?!

I’ve been enjoying the odd sweet treat lately and my lovely cat sitter and dear friend Lucy left these macarons in my fridge for our return home from holiday. WHAT AN AWESOME PAL! Oh and I don’t share macarons. Sorry peeps they’re just too good.

Another sweet treat G and I have been enjoying is Pocky. I found some cool flavours we haven’t tried before on Artbox whilst shopping for stationery. Thumbs up for the milk ones (I absolutely hate banana so G scoffed those).

A bit of a random list of favourites there! I am conscious that a lot of my favourites are ‘things’ and I am aiming to live in a less materialistic and cluttered home, so I’m having a clear out this summer. Keep your eyes peeled for some eBay and Depop goodies on sale soon. Crafters especially, as my stash needs cleansing.

May Favourites 2014

I hope you will forgive this mish mash of favourites for May! There are some handmade goodies, as well as things I’ve enjoyed throughout the month. First up, my new favourite breakfast – mashed avocado and soft boiled eggs on toast. This You Tube video has some good tips for getting the perfect boiled egg!

G and I went bike shopping last weekend (for him) and I found a half price helmet in a local bike shop. It’s basically a blank canvas right? Screaming to become a DIY. I’ve already had a suggestion to glitter bomb it and I have to admit I’m tempted.

Here’s where I pretend to be a beauty blogger. I’ve been loving the Clinique Moisture Surge gel, the Hairy Jayne handmade heat protection and refresher spray and Sally Hansen Complete Care for my horrendous nails.

I try not to buy craft books too often (bulging bookcase anyone?) but I couldn’t miss Tilly Walnes debut title Love at First Stitch. It breaks down basic sewing techniques and offers some gorgeous dress and skirt patterns.

This month I revisited one of my absolute favourite Etsy stores Vivid Please. They make the cutest stationery designs which will be perfect for my penpals and Post Circle buddies.

Isn’t that pug card is just the cutest?! I’m also super excited to announce I will be sponsoring the Edinburgh Etsy Craft Party which is being organised by Vicky of Vivid Please and some other fabulous Scottish Etsy sellers. More on this next week!

I am still in love with my Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera . I mean it’s pink for starters! Great for Smash Book photos and snaps to share with friends. The only draw back is the film can work out pretty expensive, but it makes me way more considerate about my shots.

January Favourites 2014

Following on from my December Favourites post, I thought I’d share some things I’ve been loving this month.

The new year has been inspiring me to clear out and makeover areas of our home. At the moment I am working on my craft space! This little rabbit lamp from Tiger has already been placed on my new desk.

Continuing with the Tiger lamps, I also picked up this toadstool desk lamp, too cute.

Candles will probably always feature in my favourites. This scented sewing spool candle was a gift from friends. They are available on NOTHS.

As I’ve been getting my craft space organised, I have also sorted through my yarn stash.

I borrowed this yarn winder from a friend and it’s been pretty relaxing to wind up everything! Somehow I feel like I can justify my stash now….

Still loving Scrabble of course! I’ve started the year super inspired to bring lots of new Scrabble ideas to my Etsy store. The new Scrabble keyrings are already selling!

Obviously I’m no beauty blogger, but I’ve been enjoying these Barry M Nailpolishes ALOT. Glitter nail polishes definitely brighten a dull rainy day and we’ve been getting tons of those in the UK right now.

This Pomegranate Barry M polish is from the Gelly range and I would recommend!

Improving my photography has been a goal of mine for some time now. The A Beautiful Mess Photography Book is helping with inspiration and tips.

Especially the DIY elements of course!

The fact that my Fuji Film Instax Mini camera is pink makes me want to take so many more pictures.

The Scrap booking posts on A Beautiful Mess have also inspired me to continue with my “I Heart Cambridge” one. I’m treating it more like a smash book and sticking in photos, papers and tickets etc.

There’s something about Polaroid photos isn’t there?

This time last year, Cambridge had snow. The weather has been crazy these last few months with freak storms and flooding across a lot of the UK. I haven’t seen snow since I went to Vancouver!

My goal for this month was to get organised and work hard on the craft space makeover. I’m super excited to show you when it’s done. The furniture is almost complete (I’m looking for a comfy crochet chair at the moment) and the decor ideas are coming together. Any excuse to scour Pinterest for craft storage ideas eh?

What have been your favourites this month?
