Filofax inspiration #11: Kikki K Perforated Planner Review

It has been a while since my last Filofax Inspiration post, so today I’m sharing an unboxing and review of the new Kikki K Perforated Leather Planner in Ice Blue.

If you’re not a planner person, Kikki K is an Australian stationery brand and most of their planners are 6 ring binders. This means you can easily switch in and out from other planners such as Filofax.

KikkiK-Perforated-Planner-Review-Ice-Blue I had previously been using the Lilac and Gold Time Planner from Kikki K and after that, the Filofax Turquoise Domino Patent Organiser, both in A5 size.

Kikki K planners come packaged in decorative boxes delivered to the UK via Parcel Force. The courier delivery often means you are hit by a customs charge. I paid around £65 for the planner and then an additional £24 in customs fees. However, I do consider this good value as the planners are excellent quality and each one is handmade.

As the planner was purchased mid-year, it didn’t contain a specific calendar, but had plenty of tab stickers and plain dividers to customise with. In addition, generous amounts of to do paper and generic monthly calendars on a two page layout were included.

I think it probably could have had an 18 month calendar included, but I’ll switch in from my previous planner, so I am not too fussed.

In order to keep my planner clean in my satchel, I purchased a cotton gift bag to keep it in. The planner’s popper closure does make it difficult to fit the large A5 size planner in this, so I may use it for supplies or paper instead.

Kikki-K-Planner-Bag

This planner is the first time I have tried a popper closure. I think I may prefer it over an elastic closure as they are difficult to keep clean and do loosen over time. One thing the planner was missing was a page divider/ruler, which I use daily.

Just to note, this post isn’t sponsored by Kikki K, I just really enjoy their products and have found all their planners to be great quality. You can have a look online using the hashtag #kikkikplannerlove to see what other people think of their planners.

I’ve also filmed a planner unboxing video on my YouTube channel so you can hear my detailed opinion if you are considering purchasing a planner. You can find the video here if you are unable to play the embedded version below.

All products in this post were purchased from the Kikki K website. I’ll be working on a planner set up video and blog post soon – I’ve made some pretty dividers and inserts to get myself organised!

Filofax Inspiration #10

Hands up who has their planner sorted for 2015 already? I still have some tweaks to do, but I thought I would share my set up so far. If you are easily offended by the odd curse word, maybe skip the pictures of this post!

Kikki-K-Lilac-Time-Planner-A5This year, I am exploring productivity and how to work more efficiently. So, I found this downloadable print on Etsy for my dashboard. Now I can be reminded to be productive each time I open my planner!

Prints of Heart have kindly given my readers 20% off the print using the code cbelle20 at checkout!Lilac-Gold-Planner-Dashboard

Adding to the gold theme, I’m using my new Kate Spade Bow Paper Clips. The main change to my planner is the amount of goal printables I am now using.Kate-Spade-Bow-Paper-Clips-For-Planners

For each week I am using a free weekly printable to do list, which has replaced my bullet journal. I am not happy with the diary inserts I purchased from WH Smith as the layout and font is a bit formal for me. I may switch back to the Paperchase versions but would love to hear your suggestions for inserts.Kikki-K-Planner-Set-up

I am continuing to use the dividers I made myself and also A4 fold out pages of this printable calendar for my editorial schedule and business planning.Macaron-Planner-Inserts

A great blog for printables is Design Is Yay. There is a monthly newsletter with free designs for your planner and even ones for your mobile devices. How cute is this printable?! This also replaces the monthly section of my bullet journal.

I hope to start using my Cricut Explore machine a bit more to add some items to my planner too. And I definitely need to up my game with decorating the weekly diary inserts. December was so busy my pages were not decorated and it was so uninspiring!

Filofax Inspiration #9

It’s been a while since I shared a Filofax Inspiration post, but as my fellow planner geeks will know, it takes time to set up a planner and to find your way with it. I’ve had my Kikki K Lilac Time Planner for a couple of months now, so I thought I would share my set up. I will definitely be making some future changes, but for now here we are…..

Kikki-K-Lilac-Time-Planner-A5My dashboard is a printed quote from Pinterest with an acetate sheet on top to keep it clean. I used my single hole punch a lot when setting up this planner.
I use the front pockets for my biz cards, page markers and usually sticky notes. I always use a Frixion erasable roller ball pen for writing in my planner – they are just brilliant for mistakes and appointment changes.

FiloFax-Inspiration-Planner-Set-UpI decided to make my own dividers using coloured and patterned papers. The front of each divider is coloured card stock decorated with gold washi tape to compliment the overall planner design. I used alphabet stamps for the tabs and laminated the whole divider before hole punching.

This section is my health tracking for migraines, but I removed the contents for the photo as it contained lots of personal information about my medications etc.DIY-Planner-Inserts-Claireabellemakes

One thing I like about this planner is the clear ruler. Filofax do not have a clear ruler for A5 size and I hated the ugly black one I had in my Domino Filofax. I usually decorate each week (i have a week per page) with washi tape and stickers.

My diary inserts are free printables from Philofaxy but I know that there are some great ones in Paperchase in the UK and in fellow blogger Alexis’ shop.Planner-Layout-Ideas-Kikki-KFor the last two weeks I decided on a cat themed planner (crazy cat lady alert!). I purchased the cat collection from the Project Life Themed Card packs and I use these as an additional decoration. I use the other side of the cards for gratitude journalling.
Cat-Themed-Planner-LayoutI don’t think I will be able to stuff this planner as full as the Filofax Domino I previously used, but I intend to keep my diary, blog planner, some biz notes and finances in here. One day when I figure out my new camera properly, I’ll film a full set up video!

I like to share planner inspiration and printables on my Pinterest boards. If you’re into planners too you can follow along here.

Filofax Inspiration #8 – Kikki K Lilac Time Planner

Today’s Filofax Inspiration post is a review of the Kikki K Lilac Time Planner.  I came across Kikki K stationery about a year ago, but only purchase goodies from there as a treat as shipping and customs from Australia can be a bit pricey!

The 2015 Time Planner is made from lilac leather and has gold detail on the outside. I opted for the A5 size as I wanted to transition from my A5 Domino Filofax easily.

Kikki-K-Planner-Review-Filofax-Inspiration

The leather is really soft which is nice to touch, but could be easily knocked and dented in a handbag. I might need to sew a planner pouch to keep it pristine.

Kikki-K-Lilac-And-Gold-Planner-Filofax-Inspiration

There are plenty of pockets for sticky notes, business cards etc in the inside front cover. I particularly like the zip pocket too.

Kikki-K-Lilac-Planner-Close-Up-Filofax-Inspiration

The hardware is gold and seems pretty sturdy. One of the plus points for me is that the planner lays flat when opened. I much prefer an elastic closure to the Filofaxes with a popper closure.

Kikki-K-Lilac-Time-Planner-A5-Filofax-Inspiration

The Kikki K planner has an elastic pen loop and comes with a week on two page inserts for the diary section. Since this photo was taken, I have ‘moved in’ from my Domino Filofax with week per page inserts which I printed for free from the Philofaxy blog.

Kikki K has some really pretty fineliner pens, so I grabbed a lilac and gold one to match. It is pretty snug in the pen loop though. I have already made some new dividers which I’ll share soon as some of the Kikki K ones don’t apply to me (shops and restaurants?!!).

The planner also comes with a notepad in the back cover which I’ll most likely use. The paper quality is fairly thin but it’s fine for lists and the like.

A5-Kikki-K-Lilac-Gold-Time-Planner-Filofax-Inspiration

The A5 is a big planner so I’ll definitely be able to stuff it pretty full. I usually keep all my blog and business scheduling in my planner as well as personal sections such as monthly budgets and my migraine diaries.

My Kikki K Lilac Planner joins the Mint Leather notebook I got last year. Pastel stationery heaven!

I’ll soon be sharing my set up and handmade planner dividers in another post, so stationery lovers and planner geeks should stay subscribed! Let me know if there is anything specific you’d like to see.

Filofax Inspiration #7

It’s already number 7 in the Filofax Inspiration series! Today I thought I would update you on my planner, rather than sharing inspiration from elsewhere.

I am still using my A5 Domino Filofax planner in pink. I like this planner as it has an elastic closure (meaning it can be stuffed really full) and it also lays flat when opened.

I change my planner style every few months. At the moment it is decorated with kawaii stationery starting with this Rilakkuma bear charm I received in my Kawaii subscription box.

Rilakkuma-Bear-Filofax-Charm

Plain notes are just boring, so I got some Rilakkuma sticky notes for the front section of the planner.

Rilakkuma-Filofax-Sticky-Notes

Artbox is a great shop for stickers and notelets. I like to keep a selection in a stationery box on my desk for planner decorating (usually on a Sunday for the week ahead).

Kawaii-Cat-Stickers-and-Notepads

How cute are these cat stickers?! I’m honestly never going to stop loving stickers. So childlike haha! I told G that if he wanted to just buy me a load of stickers for my birthday this year that would make me happy. STICKER NERD ALERT.

Kawaii-Filofax-Stickers

I don’t do Project Life journalling, but I do buy the cards as the selections are great and they can be used for all sorts of things. I like to stick one Project Life card in my planner per week to either write a list or quote on. Hobbycraft have some themed packs on sale at the moment.

Project-Life-Journalling-Cards

I usually use washi tape to decorate my Filofax planner and stick with a theme and colour scheme each week. I’m getting back into practising gratitude by writing a list of “happy things” for the week. I find this really useful for positive thinking.

Filofax-Layout-and-Decoration

Pens of choice at the moment are the Pilot Frixion Erasable Rollerball and this flowery black fine liner which I think I got from The idea Owl.

Fineliner-Frixon-Pens

I no longer write a weekly to-do list for the planner, but instead have a seperate notebook for Bullet Journalling. It’s my first month trying this task management system so I’ll let you know how I get on. I may integrate this back into my planner at some point.

As always, please link up any Filofax Inspiration in the comments below and if you are a Bullet Journaller please let me know any tips or tricks!

Toodles!
