Crochet Jumper

Last summer I started to make this crochet jumper from the cover of Issue 9 of Simply Crochet magazine. My plan was to finish it for autumn.

I did pretty well with pattern reading (it was a seamless garment and crocheted in the round), but I did get a bit stuck when it came to the sleeves. Luckily Joanne from Not So Granny offered her expertise and after a hiatus I finally took it out of the bag and completed it last month.

Here I am this weekend with the completed crochet jumper on. It’s very comfortable and I chose to wear it with some new patterned hareem pants I picked up in Next. Obvs it feels like you are wearing PJs outside but man are they comfy.

It’s the perfect jumper for between seasons and was just right for an evening bike ride with G yesterday.

Are you guys working on any knitted or crocheted garments? I’d love to see your WIPs. You can find me on Ravelry here and please share your links in the comments below!

Current Crochet Projects

It’s been a while since I shared any completed crochet projects, but I am pleased to say that August has been a month of digging into the WIP basket and finishing them!

I made this Itty Bitty Bunny from issue 2 of Simply Crochet Magazine for my cousin’s new baby, Fletcher. I used Rico Baby Cotton Soft DK which I purchased from the Yarn and Craft Shop.

Back in June I hosted the Etsy Craft Party where we began crocheting baby blankets for the intensive care unit at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. Debbie Bliss had kindly donated yarn for the project, so I used the Baby Cashmerino and crocheted the bobble stitch.

Continuing on the baby theme (I hadn’t realised all my makes were for the teeny ones!) our WI group Cambridge Blue Belles decided to enter a competition at the local fair to present a baby basket of handmade items.

I made the mitts. The other makes included a blanket, bunting, bonnet and booties. Super cute! The yarn was James C Brett Cotton On DK. Thanks to Miss Chaelaboo for the basket photo.

So after all the many makes for little people, I have started my first crocheted garment for an adult. I’m making this Cream Crochet Jumper from Issue 9 of Simply Crochet Magazine for me! It was my holiday project, so I shall be posting an update on the jumper soon!

My yarn choice was the light grey colour of Navi Uno (2ply) purchased from The Island Wool Company.
