A Handmade Jewellery Box

As most of you will know, I make rings and accessories for my Etsy store. I thought it would be fun today to share the handmade items in my jewellery box.

G bought me this gorgeous jewellery box on a trip to Japan a few years back. He is honestly the best at giving gifts and I was stunned at this, it’s so beautiful. What made me happy is that it winds up to play delicate music when opened and it is lined with red velvet.

I’ll begin with these super cute slides from Mummybird Pretties. I try hard to support local makers, so must make a visit to Claire’s Cambridge market stall soon with my spending money ready! If you follow her on Instagram she posts loads of upcoming stock and it’s all SO pretty!

The only studs I ever really wear are these from Onetenzeroseven. Sophie kindly answered my recent plea for some mint green flower studs and found these unusual ones below. Thank you Sophie 🙂 Please do visit her shop & blog, you wont be disappointed.Onetenzeroseven earrings

Wooden scrabble tile ring (available in my shop) and an oversized button ring.

Vintage button hairslides by me and a dainty glass hairslide I found at a craft fair.

These glass studs are super heavy, so it’s a bit of a relief to take them out at the end of the day, but the colour is so rich and unique. G picked them for me from one of the makers at the art salon I used to work at.

Glass Earrings

Some of you will know I have a penpal from Canada who I have been writing to for 20 years. She sends lots of handmade jewellery as we both share a love of hand crafted items. I love the bright pink in these beaded ones, so eye catching.

The wooden ones have had a bit of an adventure. I was in the lift at work one day and one fell out and down the lift shaft. It just so happened that the lift engineer was working that day, so we asked him to look for it. I didn’t really have any hope that it would turn up, but it did! However, the oil in the lift had tarnished the wood big time. I was sad as they were a favourite pair.

My friend Tim is keen at building things from wood and offered to restore the earring for me. I couldn’t believe it when he popped them through my letter box a few weeks later – looking identical and good as new! I’m sure I still owe him a pint for that!

Canadian Earrings

This crochet cuff was made for me by a dear friend – it’s so perfect for winter and a great match for the wooden earrings.

I get so many comments about this clock ring that I almost wish it told the real time. It’s from a fab seller called Ruby Spirit Designs on Folksy. I like the vintage feel.

I’m going to end on a non handmade item, just because I absolutely adore it! This bow bangle is from last season at Oliver Bonas. Cute eh?

I hope you have enjoyed the sneak peak into my jewellery box. Perhaps I’ll share my pendant collection next time.

Take a look at my jewellery and accessories pinterest board for more pretty things.

Do you wear handmade pieces?

I also want to say a thanks to Sue who gave me a blog award this week! Please do stop by her blog and awesome folksy shop which is full of very pretty crocheted items!

Oh Really, Red?

Red is definitely one of my favourite colours. It never used to be, but it’s funny how your tastes change….I just wish the tomatoes on my plants would turn red!

Yesterday I had such a wonderful gift in the mail from a dear Twitter friend who I chat to on a daily basis. It is the most perfect gift for me, a red bicycle notebook!

This week I’ve also launched red and white polka dot bow rings in my Etsy store. I’d love to hear your thoughts!
