Handmade Gifts for Grandads

My Grandfathers are both pretty spectacular. One is 97 years old and is highly competitive at Dominoes and the other is an ex-ballroom dancer who I feel I inherit my positive (read silly) mindset from. Recently the latter celebrated his birthday and it got me thinking about handmade gifts for Grandads. Is it just me or are they pretty hard to buy for?!

I had a look on Etsy and Not On The High Street and thought I’d share some of the lovely handmade gift ideas I found. Not his birthday for a while? Bookmark them for later like I do on my Gift Ideas Pinterest board!

Joanna at Adventures and Tea Parties asked me to review her personalised hankies in a little more detail for you.

Each hankerchief comes beautifully packaged and is made from your choice of fabric. I love the personalised aspect as you can choose any phrase/word to be embroidered in the neatest stitches. Grandad’s love a big hanky don’t they?!

The items from Joanna’s store are beautifully packaged, but I couldn’t help but feel the box was slightly too big for the hanky as it was mostly packaging. But then I had the idea of adding a miniature whisky to the box as my Grandad loves a tipple, so it all worked out nicely!

Do you have any gift ideas for Grandads or the hard to buy for men in your life?

Adventures and Tea Parties: Embroidered Cherry Brooch

Confession time. My Etsy favourites are out of control. I want to buy all the things. I have a serious crush on handmade.

So, when Joanna from Adventures and Tea Parties got in touch with me after I’d been obsessing over her hand embroidered Cherry Brooch, I almost bit her extremely creative hands off (figuratively speaking)!

Joanna’s Etsy store is a treasure trove of embroidered goodies including brooches, hankerchiefs, rings and pendants. She’s even super organised with Christmas brooches already!

Each item comes in a sweet little box wrapped in ribbon – perfect if you’d like to gift an item. I adore pretty packaging and knowing there is something even prettier inside is a real treat.

The embroidery detail on the brooch is so neat and gorgeous. The brooch pin is super sturdy and not flimsy at all, like some shop bought mass produced brooches can be. The handmade quality is tip top. I can’t wait to wear it on a black cardigan to brighten an outfit.

What pleases me so is that the cherry brooch joins all my other handmade brooches on my cake stand accessories display.

I’ve now got my eye on the embroidered necklaces including this sweet ice cream sundae pendant and sewing machine pendant.

I can tell that each and everyone of Joanna’s pieces are made with love and attention to detail, making them incredibly special and unique.

Be sure to check out Joanna’s shops on Etsy and NOTHS. She also writes a fabulous blog about her creative adventures and business journey.

NB: I was sent the brooch in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.
