Learn Modern Calligraphy

This year I have decided to re-learn a traditional skill I enjoyed as a child. At the Handmade Fair last year, I tried a taster session for modern calligraphy and loved it. Here’s my attempt below, I need to practice!

I know that a number of you would also like to learn calligraphy, so I thought I would round up some inspiration and resources for us all to enjoy!

Gold Letterpress Print – Lindsay Letters

Faux Calligraphy Stationery – Erica’s Sweet Tooth

Hello Calligraphy Card – Leen Jean Studio

Calligraphy Envelopes –  Oh So Beautiful Paper

I was gifted this book which I plan to use alongside this Skillshare video course.

To practice the lettering, I will be using this book I made at a Japanese stab binding class last year and these bamboo calligraphy pens I bought from Not On The High Street.

I’ll be sure to Instagram my progress along the way! Here’s my Pinterest board of calligraphy inspiration, but I would love to see anything you have found too.

  1. I really want to learn calligraphy this year. I’m getting married in july and I’m planning quite a lot of DIY elements so I want to use it for place names and things like that! These are great resources so thanks for sharing!

  2. Oh wow. Thankyou for this. I signed up for a skillshare class on hand lettering and i’m struggling. These links are going to be really helpful x

  3. Calligraphy is definitely on my list of things I’d like to try this year, just need to find the time to fit everything in! Do you know any good places to get cheap(ish) supplies?
Looking forward to reading all about your progress!
