I’ve been pretty excited about this blog post for a while now having got my hands on a copy of Studs and Pearls: 30 Creative Projects for Customized Fashion a couple of months back!
New Yorker Kirsten Nunez is the author of creative DIY Fashion blog Studs and Pearls. Nunez shares her creative flare through her blog DIYs and scored her first book deal in her 20s. She has had countless fashion features in Mollie Makes, Cosmo, CNN and tons more. This girl is one to watch!

Studs and Pearls the book is pretty impressive for a first title. If you like DIY fashion you will definitely find something to create. Each DIY is laid out in a simple, clean way followed by pages of variations and further inspiration.

The book offers DIY jewellery projects, customisation for your favourite clothes and shoes and tons of DIY accessory ideas. Nunez shares her tips and tricks as well as her inspiration and you get a feel for her passion and drive right from the beginning.

Suggested suppliers for the UK and US are listed in the back of the book which is an added bonus and Nunez explains which tools she prefers to use when crafting.

If you are a DIY beginner, there are some great projects that require very little skill (think gluing and cutting) and in contrast, some that require a little more experience such as wire wrapping and sewing. This handy index of projects by difficulty level is at the back of the book.
I tried out a couple of projects from the book in the accessories section (of course!).
Now I just need to book a summer holiday so I can wear these floral embellished sunglasses!

Toodles!
Love the sound of this book as it the projects seem simple enough to do with my craft-mad daughter 🙂 Thanks for bringing it to my attention Claire 🙂 xx
LOVE the chain-thread bracelet. Jewelry DIY’s are my favourite, especially because statement jewels are so expensive right now and can easily be made for a third of the price – plus you get to say you made it when people ask where it’s from! 😉
I have some studs left from my crafty box subscription.. I’m feeling inspired 🙂

Lovely book!
This is amazing! I’ve been wanting to do/make something creative for a while now but have been stuck for inspiration or a decent idea so this would be so useful.
This book looks to be full of fun ideas. I’ve tried cross stitching motifs onto clothes to make them mine.

I’m hooked on knitting for fashion DIYs at the moment but sewing my own bags has to be my favourite but I’m trying to improve my jewellery making skills too 🙂

Making shorts it’s super easy and they look brilliant
I love making things with old jeans – recently I cut off the legs off a pair of jeans to create denim shorts! I stitched on a frilly Broderie anglaise style to the hems to make them look chic!
I love crochet collars – make every outfit look better!

I love to jazz up old belts with charms.
I just love redoing old stuff into new things. My recent passion is to rework old jeans into backpacks.
I’m a huge fan of the lace insert shorts I made for glasto a few years back. Anything with a little embellishment is good for me!
