Today’s DIY is a simple one I promise! I’m showing you how to create this wooden peg photo frame which can be used in a craft space or office, or indeed anywhere in your home. I quite like the idea of one of these in the kitchen to hang recipes up….
Anyway, let’s get started with the tutorial.
You will need:
- Box Frame
- Bakers Twine
- Double Sided Sticky Tape
- Small Wooden Pegs
- Fabric Scissors
Begin by removing the backing for the frame and the glass which you will not need. Lay the backing onto your fabric and draw around it. Cut your fabric out using fabric scissors and press.
Turn the frame backing over and edge with the double sided sticky tape. Once you have peeled the tape covering off you can smooth your fabric onto the backing. The good thing here is that you can usually lift the fabric and replace it (provided your tape isn’t super sticky) to ensure you remove any creases or folds.
Cut a length of the bakers twine which is 0.5 inches wider than the frame backing on each side. Loosely lay the twine across the front of your fabric around 1.5 inches from the top (I moved mine up after taking this photo).
Holding your bakers twine in place, reassemble the frame (without the glass) and adjust the twine accordingly. I used the frame clips on the back to catch the end of the bakers twine and then cut off any excess.
Attach a few wooden pegs to your bakers twine and you are now ready to hang some photos in your frame!
I think I’ll use mine for notes and pretty reminders.
Or you could add some business cards, tickets or Polaroids.
These peg photo frames can be made in any size, just adjust your fabric and peg amounts accordingly! I like the idea of a long one for family pictures and the best thing is, you can change what you hang whenever you like.
What do you think? I would love to know your ideas for displaying photos around the home. Please share your inspiration in the comments below.
