As promised and as part of my kitchen/organisation week on the blog, I’m sharing with you my vintage English tea cup collection and my non vintage teapots.
I received this Kingsway cup and saucer as a Christmas gift with a matching side plate for cakes and sandwiches. On the bottom it says ‘tudor shape’ and it is almost square. I probably wouldn’t have picked this myself, but it’s really grown on me and I adore the pattern and shape.
I think this Mayfair tea cup is quite common as I’ve seen the teapot at a few vintage fairs. I believe it is made in Staffordshire.
This English Ironstone teacup is made in Staffordshire and is called ‘Charm’. It has a cracked effect on the inside and bottom of the tea cup.
I actually have a pair of these tea cups which are made by Coalport between 1891 and 1920. The scalloped edge is so nice to drink from and that gold handle!!!
Next up for my wish list is this Sutherland tea cup, saucer and plate trio in duck egg green available from Cake Stand Heaven. I may just have to treat myself.

I also have a number of non vintage cups and tea pots including these cups from British ceramics designer Alison Appleton.
They match this gorgeous tea pot which has a removable infuser. I like to take this one to craft parties.
For my birthday, I received this Yellowstone Art Boutique bicycle tea pot which I adore . This is my craft room tea pot.
I also received this teapigs glass tea pot as a gift, but I only get it out when I’m feeling good as I am a super clumsy person and it is quite delicate.
My sister got me this Stump Forlife tea pot which I use after work each day for some loose tea. It’s the perfect size for one.
So there you have it, my vintage tea cup collection and a few tea pots too! My favourite place to buy tea is David’s Tea in Canada (thank goodness for relatives and friends out there as they don’t post internationally) and Teapigs in the UK.
Are you a tea cup fan or do you prefer a mug?
Toodles!
Lovely collection! I have the Mayfair design on a tea caddy, though I’ve used it for storing cotton wool all my life. I have recently come back to using a teacup and saucer for afternoon tea, or as a special treat to accompany boring tasks… (tax return saw much teacup-drinking!) I have my eye on an enamel teapot next.
Oh yes tax return and tea drinking go hand in hand!!
So pretty, I love the square one. My mum has my great gran’s wedding china set and the pattern is very similar. It’s not a full set so I used some of it for cake stands at my wedding.
My grandad showed me this teacup recently from a set that he bought for my gran when he was in Japan http://instagram.com/p/ejurXpC6Nd/. Typically it’s been ‘saved for best’ and never used. It’s so nice that you use yours.
Thanks for sharing this – that cup is absolutely beautiful and what a lovely story behind it!
I love the Mayfair design. I have a couple of vintage tea cups and when we find our new house I would like to start collecting vintage tea pots to display on a dresser. I dont drink tea myself but tea pots can be so pretty
Oh you must start drinking tea so you have even more excuses to buy pretty cups 🙂
Lovely collection!! Unfortunately I do not own any vintage tea cups, but I’d definitely would love collecting some!
They are certainly a lovely thing to collect. And I believe they should be used as much as possible!
I collect Willow pattern china – I live on a boat called Willow, it was inevitable- so all my teacups are varieties of that, but I love your collection of different patterns!
Amy
How lovely you can collect china of the same name as your boat! I often walk past the Lucky Duck and along the river, so I will have to look out for you on the Willow 🙂
We are two boats downstream of the Duck (weird to see my old boat every day) so do pop in if you’re passing!
Great collection! I’ve been given a ban on buying anymore teasets. The boyf is not so happy that I own a gazillion teacups.
Thanks for sharing these Claire. They all look great together and it’s so nice to see the ones you bought from Retrovert being so well loved! Sophie x
