Essential Kitchen Items

Following on from my new start post on Monday, I thought I would share some of my favourite things in our kitchen.

We are loving our meal planning / chore rota blackboard wallpaper. I’m definitely motivated to clean a room a day so that I’m not spending whole days at the weekend sorting the house.

For our 10 year anniversary last year, G got me this beautiful ice blue Kitchen Aid. I’m trying to limit my cake intake at the moment so we are mostly using it to whip mash potato. Honestly, it’s amazing.

Also, in the background – I heart my slow cooker. Lazy cooks, this one is for you.

A few Christmasses ago I got these chalkboard jars from G (they are from Heals but you could DIY them). I always like to have flour to hand when cooking/baking.

I do enjoy baking (all my recipes can be found here) and I received these cute measuring cups as a gift.

Square baking tins are necessary for storing one’s brownies and sugar cookies right? I got this Billingtons tin for free at the Cake and Bake Show last year.

Then one day we had some friends over for cake and my graphic designer friend Simon said he had designed the tin! It’s obviously now my favourite tin.

Love these sewing spool salt and pepper shakers I got for my birthday. I hadn’t seen them before, but they came all the way from Canada!

During product testing stage for my Etsy store, I had some spare Scrabble Tiles that weren’t up to scratch (you can see the lettering wears off). I used the tiles to make a Clean/Dirty magnet for our dishwasher and it works a treat!

Finally, we have what we refer to as a ‘compliments board’ hung on the kitchen wall. It’s a washi tape blackboard basically. We make a point of writing messages to one another and you tick it once you have seen it.

I once came home from work with a migraine to find a packet of crisps taped to the board with “feel better” as the message. It’s the little things………….

Like my amazing artwork?!

What kitchen items can’t you live without? I’ll be back on Friday for one final kitchen post – sharing my vintage tea cup collection.

  1. OK Claire first of all please please please sell those dishwasher thingies! Our dishwasher has a wooden door so it wouldn’t work for us (but maybe we could put it on the cooker hood or something) but that is sooooo necessary in our household with so many comings and goings! Such a clever idea.

And those measuring cups are adorable. I really enjoyed this little peek into your kitchen.

    p.s. back at work!!!!

  2. My kitchen essentials are my huge stash of colourful silicone utensils which can be flung straight in the dishwasher (no washing up wooden spoons! hurrah!), and my collection of hearty-sized mugs (half a pint, minimum). When I go out for tea I forget how measly some mug sizes can be xxx
