UPDATE: Crafty Magazine is no longer in print.
I know I’ve talked about craft magazines a lot lately, but I couldn’t miss sharing an inside peek of Crafty Magazine’s 8th issue with you guys. The cover is just adorable with these needle felted mice in bow ties!
I got my sub copy this week, which includes a granny square crochet kit with patterns for beginners, intermediate and advanced. One of them is a flamingo crochet granny square!
Here’s my effort for the advanced granny square pattern. Plenty of cotton yarn is provided, so I may attempt a flamingo!
As usual the magazine focuses on crafts of the moment with a twist. These god’s eye’s with pom poms are just fabulous don’t you think? I have become so obsessed with pom poms I have made a Pinterest board dedicated to them.
You can also find a DIY for pom pom napkin rings in this issue. CUTE!
I am a big fan of doilies, and especially love the ideas for customising cushions and shirts with them.
I didn’t think Day of the Dead Cross Stitch Jewellery could look so pretty! Sarah Fordham shows us how to create these Mexican inspired pieces.
Talking of pretty, Crochet designer Kat Goldin offers this African Flowers crochet purse. I am definitely adding this to my ‘to make’ list (it’s ridiculously long).
There is a behind the scenes studio tour with Harriet Godden, the maker of these weird and wonderful designs from her label Sausage Dog. She works from the Manchester Craft and Design Centre, which looks like an inspiring place to be.
There are Christmas crafting ideas including wrapping inspiration. And even some origami jewellery inspiration with a paper brooch DIY.
You all know I’m a cat person, but how ridiculously adorable is this pooch? He is named Stanley and is owned by Ashley Sutcliffe, who runs ace retro homewares store Live Like the Boy! Ashley shows us around his home.
Are you a knitter? You can try the pattern for these kiwi socks!
There are lots of tips on preparing for Christmas and an interview with maker Melissa Lowry, who makes these darling needle felted foxes.
Whilst we are on the subject of needle felted animals, can we just take a look at those mice on the cover again. MEEEEP!
As ever, Crafty Magazine delivers a wide range of crafting projects, interviews and features and in my opinion offers a publication for men and women – not something that other magazines do.
I’d love to know if there are any male crafters following this blog?!!Β
Issue 8 of Crafty is out on November 7th and is available in most supermarkets and WH Smith stores.*
Toodles!

I think its great that you support so many businesses and publications Claire, we know we are getting and unbiased view and that you are honest xx
Thank you Hannah, I try my best π
I’m also obsessed with pom poms! he he… I want to make a scarf for my little ones and add some pom poms π
Pom pom scarves are the best!
Those tiny pyramids are beyond adorable. Now want to make huge versions for next summer in the garden π xxx

Ok, you have me convinced, going to have to buy a copy.
Hope you enjoy it!
There does seem to be a lot of great ideas. Thanks for sharing.
I love the pink and grey yarn together! And those felted foxes are too adorable!
I really like that spiral granny square. I’m stuck in a bit of rut crochet-wise so might have to invest in a copy!
It is well worth it – a good magazine offering unusual projects.
