Happy Wednesday everyone! I’m sharing one of my Etsy Favourites today:
I first spotted Lucy’s store via Twitter and was amazed by her upcycled bags made from classic records and vintage scarves. Talk about unique eh?!
I am always intrigued to know the stories behind my favourite Etsy stores and Change the Record was no exception. Lucy says the store is all about making ordinary things extraordinary. Taking old, unused and pre-loved objects and transforming them into something unusual…
Change the Record was named after Lucy created a piece from two 7 inch vinyl records and an old, suede skirt from a charity shop. With a focus on “functional transformation”, these objects are being used in a completely different way to their original purpose.
Eurovision fan? You’ve gotta love these earrings. There are even Charles and Diana photo slide earrings for the Royalists amongst us!
Since the business has evolved, materials that are available at the time lend themselves to new collections such as the best selling Pincushion Jewellery.
The photo slides, materials and records have cropped up in skips, vintage stores and charity shops. The ever gorgeous Liberty Fabrics are selected for sewn items.
Apart from the quirky accessories, Change the Record offers a deeper experience with Lucy sharing her self discovery through making via her blog, attempting to inspire others.
I’m totally inspired that the Change the Record journey began from some records and vintage scarves – proof that you can find a purpose in the most unlikely items and that a creative journey can be anything you want it to be!
This is definitely a store to favourite for your Christmas shopping.
Lucy has been kind enough to offer my readers a coupon code for 20% off all items until Sunday 10 November. Just add EARLYXMAS20 at the checkout of her store.
