    1) I’m Daisy and I live in York (I’m Yorkshire born and Yorkshire bred, strong in’t’ arm and thick in’t’ head, but I’m from West Yorkshire orginally)

    2) My favourite craft is cross stitch, I’ve been cross stitching for about 15 years and I think I always will. It just takes so very long though. I’m learning lots of new crafts now though, like sewing, knitting, crochet, paper craft and art journalling πŸ™‚

    3) My dream job would be to be a wedding planner. And since I was unemployed for a few months after my own wedding, a lot of people suggested this to me! I don’t think my migraines could handle it though πŸ˜‰

    4) One of my favourite craft blogs is http://www.elli.com/blog/ (you can see the wedding planner in me from that!). They do a lot of beautiful paper craft with a lot of free tutorials which are just stunning.

Now, shall I be Mum? *pours the earl grey*

  2. helenlay82 says:

    1) I’m Helen and I also live in York, I was born in Portsmouth and lived there for the first nearly 19 years of my life. I came to York 12 years ago to study at the University and never left the area, or the University – that’s where I now work.

    2) My favourite craft is sewing – either making things like make up bags, purses, cushions etc or doing patchwork and quilting, I made my first quilt earlier this year. I learnt how to crochet about 18 months ago and I enjoy doing that too. Over the years I’ve done a lot of cross stitch and papercrafts and tried many other things but making something with fabric on my sewing machine is definitely my favourite thing to do.

    3) My dream job would be to have a studio where people could come and do workshops, both run by me (I trained as a teacher although I haven’t taught since qualifying) and by other people, with regular social sessions too. Definitely an ‘If I won the lottery’ dream though.

    4) Having said sewing is my first love I have to say one of my favourite blogs, and one I’ve been reading the longest is Attic 24, http://attic24.typepad.com/ – Lucy combines the most gorgeous crochet with bringing up her 3 children in Yorkshire. Picking sewing blogs is hard, there are so many to choose from – but I think if I had to narrow it down to 2 I’d go for http://imagingermonkey.blogspot.co.uk/ and http://www.redpepperquilts.com/ – Rita at Red Pepper Quilts shares the most amazing quilts she makes.

  3. Butterfly Crafts says:

What a great blog post idea!

    1) Im Victoria and I’ve lived in Cambridge since December last year when I moved to “live with a boy” – eek! Im a country girl at heart originally from Hertfordshire.

    2) Im torn between two favourite crafts – I love to cross stitch and this is my personal craft for when I want to relax, but I also love papercrafting and making cards to sell. I am soon taking a workshop to learn to crochet but I also love baking.

    3) My dream job would be to have a craft workshop where I would sell craft supplies but also teach craft workshops and have studio space for other crafters.

    4) I have quite a few favourite blogs, including this fab one, but I do like http://andthenwesaved.com/ for thrifty tips and ideas to help save money….to spend on craft supplies!

  4. say it says:

What a great idea. I’d love a cookie, thank you.

    1. My name’s Laura and I live in Hull.

    2. My favourite craft is card making, closely followed by anything else I can make from paper. I’m trying to learn to needle felt, but it’s more difficult than it looks!

    3. I think I’m doing my dream job now – running an online stationery shop (http://www.sayithandmade.co.uk/). So grateful that I could turn my hobby into a business (and for my husband who actually pays for the house we live in and the food we eat!).

    4. One of my favourite blogs is Handmade Harbour (http://handmadeharbour.blogspot.co.uk/) – it’s great for craft inspiration and meeting other crafters.

  5. Ashleigh-Jayne O'Connell says:

    1) I’m Ashleigh-Jayne (AJ) and I live in London.
    2) My favourite craft is crochet and scrapbooking. That and taking in all the clothes that don’t fit me with my pink sewing machine.
    3) I will be starting my dream job in just over a week (EEP) but if that fails I would love to be a camera operator for Disney/ David Attenborough.
4)One of my favourite craft blogs is Sarah Hurley’s (http://sarahhurley.blogspot.co.uk/) and my favourit life style blog is by Charlie Elliott (http://www.shoppedanddropped.co.uk/)

    1. I’m Lucie, and I live in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, just south of Leeds. Originally from the North Wales coast, around Conwy and Llandudno
    2. At the moment my favourite craft is crochet as it is portable and I can sit with the family in the evenings. With a few hours to myself I will work at my sewing machine; soft furnishings mostly. Apart from that, baking, decoupage, knitting, polymer modelling
3.My dream job would be to run a textiles/yarn and trimmings haberdashery. I would also offer classes. Wakefield is severly lacking in this type of shop.
    4. I have many favourite blogs, but one I love is http://wolvesinlondon.com/ . A mix of fabric, craft, photos and home maker recipes.

A great blog post idea BTW. I’ll save this idea for the future.

  7. joannezipan says:

    1. I’m Jo, I live in a pretty village just on the edge of Cambridge. But I’m originally from Cornwall.
    2. My favorite craft is defiantly dressmaking although I’m not very good at it and I don’t get much time to do it due to my 2 year old son!
    3. I don’t really know what my dream job would be I quite fancy doing a PhD at the moment and becoming an academic, but I also like the idea of becoming a midwife.
    4. I have a couple at the moment http://www.danamadeit.com/ is really good for seeing someone actually making stuff and I love the http://www.coletterie.com/ which is the behind the scenes blog for Colette Patterns. It’s interesting to see how they work.

my fav blog at the moment is http://www.herlibraryadventures.blogspot.com and i am a musician which means late nights and pubs, but my secret dream job is quite the oppisite…id love to be a librarian!

  9. Emma says:

    1) Hi Claire (thanks for the cookie!) – I’m Emma, originally from Cambridge and now in Bristol!

    2) My favourite craft is card making, because it’s about the only thing I can do with any style! I’m also going to learn a few DIY skills soon so that I can make my new house look pretty!

    3) My dream job would be to read, review and talk about books for living! (Or to be a school librarian and impart books upon the masses of children yet to discover their greatness!)

    4) My favourite blog right now is by a good friend I worked with while selling cutlery in Debenhams during college: http://www.oblahblah.blogspot.co.uk/ – she blogs about books, films and living in the UAE

  10. moleymakes says:

    Hi Claire
    1. My name is Ruby and I live in Essex. I’m originally from London though, so not a true Essex girl.

    2. My first love is knitting. I do also enjoy crochet, cross stitch, baking cooking and I’m refreshing my sewing skills.

    3. I’m self-employed helping to run my hubby’s business from home and I also have an online shop (not craft related.) As much as I love the freedom I have, my dream job would be to own a shop selling yarn and fabric and notions. I’d run classes/workshops. I’d also have it as a drop-in centre for people to hang out with their crafts. There would be a little in-house cafe serving refreshments and once a week there’d be an evening session with wine and G&T.

    4. I read loads of blogs and they’re all lovely in their own way. I don’t really have a favourite but I can recommend http://www.imake.gg and http://henhousehomemade.blogspot.co.uk/

Thanks for the tea and biccie. They went down a treat πŸ™‚

  11. Ellen Boylin says:

    Hello Claire and everyone else!
What a fabulous idea and yes please I’d like a nice cup of tea and a cookie – thank you very much!

    1. My name is Ellen and I live in Warwickshire (virtually in the heart of the country!) but originally from London and then spent a long time living down in Hampshire (really miss the sea – sob, sob).
2 I make bespoke, handmade jewellery under my ‘Fat Fairy Jewellery’ label – people either love or hate the name – I love it – obviously! So jewellery making has to be my first love but since the arrival of my very first grandchild last November, I’ve also rediscovered knitting + crocheting, so they would come a close 2nd!
    3. My dream job would be to be able to make a good living at my jewellery which I just love doing, so to have my own craft workshop or even a little shop by the sea would be amazing. I’d also have to combine it with my Reiki + Reflexology which I also practice. But, just in case anyone from work just happens to come across this, I do also love my day job!!
4..Like ‘moleymakes’ above, I also follow a lot of fab blogs but I think the one I’d recommend would be ‘afifitysomethingme’ – take a peek!
Thank you very much for the afternoon tea and chat – please can we do this again soon?
    love
    Ellen x

  12. Ruth Procter says:

Hi Claire and other tea partyers!
This is a lovely idea – and here are my answers:
    1. I’m Ruth and I live in lovely Bristol
    2. I enjoy lots of different crafts, and love baking and cooking too, but at the moment I’m just getting into dressmaking at the moment so that’s the favourite right now.
    3. I’m a freelance translator and also sell some of my crafty makes, this is probably my dream combination but hoping to be able to spend slightly more time on the crafty things and less time in front of the computer translating in future.
    4. I love lots of crafty blogs, but with dressmaking being the craft of choice at the moment, I’m being inspired by some of amazing online sewing community, especially http://didyoumakethat.wordpress.com/ and http://www.paunnet.com/
I’m now off to check out some of the other favourite blogs that I haven’t heard of before – thanks for the tips!
    Ruth x

  13. Louisa says:

I’m not really new (been following for over a year) but I’d love to join in as well!
Mine’s a decaff tea and a slice of lemon drizzle cake πŸ™‚ x

    1) I’m Louisa, born in Scotland, grew up in Wiltshire and then married and moved the grand total of 20 miles across the border into Somerset.

    2) Can baking cakes be considered a craft? I also like cross stitch, sewing and adapting clothes (although I never seem to have the time to do as much as I’d like!) and photographing the Carnival processions that happen across South West England in the Autumn.

    3) My dream job would be a chartered librarian, preferably working with the National Fairground Archive at Sheffield University. I might get the first bit one day though, when I’ve finished my librarianship Masters (1 year down, 4 to go!)

    4) I have a long long long list of favourites (one of them being yours Claire!) but a few I stumbled upon recently which are fast becoming faves are: The Little Things (www.littlethings.org.uk), Putting the Tea in Teacher (www.teainteacher.blogspot.com) and Seeking Chelsea (www.seekingchelsea.blogspot.com)

    • claireabellemakes says:

Thanks for following and sticking with me Louisa! Good choice on the lemon drizzle. Baking is definitely a craft in my eyes.

Looking forward to another cuppa whilst I check out the blogs you have recommended!

    1) I’m Annee and I’m from Scotland… a little village between Glasgow and Edinburgh.

    2) Oh my hobby of the moment is letter writing, I do like to make a big deal of it… designing booklets, envelopes, stationery… bliss. I also love to knit, sketch and graphic design.

    3) I’d be an artist, and be able to work as a hobby and maybe run a B&B in my huge home just at the weekends (If I win the lotto) … Oh or maybe a gardener!

    4) http://sonnyandluca.co.uk/ never fails to make me laugh!

  15. MissDotty says:

    4) Please share with us your favourite blog so we can add some new ones to our readers! My Bloglovin’ at the moment is filled with wonderful teaching blogs, letter writing blogs, crafty blogs and all sorts so choosing one, argh! In fact can I be naughty and suggest a website instead http://www.swap-bot.com for people who would love to be involved in crafty/ letter writing based swaps. Is that allowed Claire? πŸ™‚

  16. Nadia says:

Hi Claire! Have I missed the party?

    1. I’m Nadia and I’m a German girl living in the beautiful city of Bath, Somerset, now.

    2. My favourite crafts are knittting and spinning, as you can see from my blog. I taught myself to knit by using online tutorials. It worked much better than having my mother try to teach me! With time I discovered spinning and quickly mived from spindles to a spinning wheel. Love it! I then came to dye yarn and there are so many more things I want to do with wool.

    3. My #1 dream job is to be a writer. I used to write a lot of poetry and short fiction for years and should really get back into it. My #2 dream job is what I am doing now, selling my handmade knitting supplies and yarns.

    4. My favourite blog right now is Ruth’s Blue Eggs and Tea blog: https://blueeggsandtea.squarespace.com. Her illustrations are wonderful.

    3) My dream job is a head scratcher for me! I currently work in Laura Ashley and I love it so much. I’d love to be a Visual Merchandiser or a retail head office, make and sell my own products and have my own shop/interior design company. That’s the dream. And I love blogging too! But I think if it was my job I’d go mad. (If I haven’t already!)
    4) Favourite blogs (aside from Claire’s!) I list is huge! I guzzle up blogs like no bodies business I love –

    http://www.clonesnclowns.com/

    1. I’m Kelly, and I live in Oxford, where I’ve been for about the last 8 years

    2. My craft of choice (at the moment, it’s also my newest!) is sewing – I’ve just started making my own clothes. I’m also a big fan of baking (cakes and bread), and do a bit of knitting…I’ll try my hand at most things!

    3. My dream job would be some form of criminal behavioural profiling, but it’s not a job that there’s much demand for, in this country at least!

    4. A couple of my favourite blogs are fellow Oxford blogger Claire http://iwanttobeaturtle.blogspot.co.uk/ and the lovely Fiona http://chainstitcher.blogspot.co.uk/

I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone else’s responses, sorry for my late joining to the party, ipads and blog comments don’t always get on well together!

  21. Ilex made this says:

Hi, sorry I’m late, are there any biscuits left?

1/ My name is Holly, aka Hol, Hols and Wolly and I am from Godmanchester in Cambridgeshire.

2/ I do so many different crafts that I can’t pick one as my favourite, I am really loving crochet at the moment though as I am knee deep in baby blankets and crocheting them means I can take them anywhere.

3/ My dream job would be to own a haberdashery shop, and in fact I have had dreams about what it would look like, they are always the same so I have the plan in my head ready for the day it happens.

4/ I like lots of blogs both crafty and not crafty but my favourite is psimadethis.com. Not technically a blog but they do some amazing makes.

Sewing (by machine, not hand)! But I love using a glue gun too!

    3) If you could do your dream job, what would it be?
