Goals for 2013: Progress So Far

Goals Are Dreams With Deadlines

Back in December, I set myself some goals for 2013 and published them for all to see. 6 months have passed so it’s time for an update!

  • Make a quilt

I have recently bought a new sewing machine (Janome XL601 if you’re interested) with a quilting kit included. I’m researching quilting with books from the library, but I think this goal will be ongoing for years to come.

  • Revise my business plan for my Claireabellemakes

I’m still not sure whether to formalise my business ideas or to continue as I have been and let things evolve organically. I had a rough plan for Claireabellemakes, but I think it is time to get some solid achievable goals on paper. Watch this space.

I’m on my way! I now have 116 sales after less than a year. Thank you to everyone who has ordered in the last year. Whenever my Etsy app makes the “cher-ching!” sound I get super excited.

  • Gain at least 3 more wholesale orders

I’m getting there with this one, but need to work on my Line Sheet a little more. I rephotographed my whole collection, which was a key step.

  • Start and finish a full size crochet blanket

I guess I could count my Crochet Granny Squares blanket as a tick for this goal πŸ™‚

  • Improve my health by eating well & exercising

I’m on weight watchers now and have lost 5lbs so far. I have restarted yoga and I’m taking more walks to ease myself back in to exercising. I’ve downloaded Coach 2 5k people Β – help me!

  • Take a car journey without feeling nervous as a passenger

  • Try 5 new foods

I’m currently obsessing over my weekly pop tart treat and light halloumi on salads so I’m not being that adventurous with food. Bad times.

  • Knit something in the round

Not done yet, but I’m thinking of trying this Triangulation hat as a Christmas present for someone.

  • Fly in a hot air balloon

Still dreaming…..

  • Read a novel (I currently never have time to do this)

Still no time….but maybe I can read on holiday soon?

  • Produce 2 new product lines for Claireabellemakes

DONE and DONE! Very happy to have launched my Hand Stamped Fabric Rings and the popular custom macrame Bicycle Bracelets. Also you can get yourself a lovely lucky dip bag Β of surprise accessories!

There will be new products launched over the coming months, so make sure you stay up to date and subscribe to the newsletter (there are often coupon codes!).

  • Have at least one date out a month with G

SUCCESS! We are regularly having coffee dates (where we seem to have serious discussions about the future for some reason) and we are taking time for cinema and dinner dates. Good times.

How do you turn your dreams into goals? I’d love to know your thoughts on my goals and how you think I could achieve them.

  1. Well done with your goals so far! Can wait to see how far you’ve come at the end of the year πŸ™‚ I can help you tick off 2 more of them – I’m sure I have plenty of novel recommendations that wont take you too long to read even if you catch just 5 mins a day, and Bristol Balloon Fiesta in August can help you achieve that balloon ride πŸ˜‰ hehe! xx

  2. Well done so far! I’m half way through coach to 5k and my best advice is to just get out there and do it. I did my first 20 minute run the other day, which was something I thought was impossible previously. Yes it’s hard but whilst each week you have to run for longer it doesn’t get any harder as you do get fitter and it’s an amazing feeling when you’ve done it!

  3. Well done. It sounds like you are doing really well. What a great idea to set goals so you can see how much you have achieved (and make sure you achieve the things you want to!).

  4. Good going girl! I enjoyed this update. And could that triangulation hat be *my* Xmas gift please, I love it, hee hee!

  5. Well done! This post has made me feel quite positive. I’m at the very beginning of my ‘crafting career’ whilst stillt having a full time job and quite often think that my dreams will never become reality. But you’ve made me want to keep on trying! Ashley x
P.S. Definitely go for the 5k. A few years ago I never thought I’d be able to run (I was AWFUL at school), but I ran the marathon in April and I have never felt more proud if myself. Do it! X

    1. I’m so glad to have inspired you Ashley! It is a lot of hard working juggling it with a full time job, but it is SO rewarding!! Keep me posted on how you get on and do get in touch if you want to chat/bounce ideas of someone πŸ™‚ P.S. I started the couch to 5k yesterday!

      1. Thanks so much, that’s really kind of you. I may take you up on your offer! I have my first ever craft fair next month so we shall see how that goes… So nervous! Well done on starting your 5k training, you will feel so proud of yourself the day you do it. It’s just the getting out that’s the hardest part, so keep at it πŸ™‚ x

  6. I find it inspiring to read other people’s goals and see how they are getting on with them. It’s a great list and I’m excited to see your next update <3
