This week I had the pleasure of attending another Cath Kidston Craft Club. The project is revealed on the evening, which always gets me wondering what we could possibly be making. Jen had picked us a fabulous project this time – Cath Kidston Fabric Doorstops!
I was so pleased to get a place for the highly popular craft club, as it was Jen’s last one as she will be moving away from Cambridge *massive sad face*. Thank you for all the fabulous evenings Jen! Do pop on over to her lovely blog and find out where she is off to and what she has been up to!
So we had some inspiration by way of this Chicken Doorstop and there was even a little pig and mouse one in progress throughout the evening. How cute!
The Cath Kidston girls are always so lovely, providing herbal tea and scrummy cakes to keep us going throughout the night. The selection of fabrics on offer always gets people excited and there is plenty of chatter and a bit of shopping too. A lovely group of ladies made for a fantastic evening.
I chose a blue and white star fabric (3rd from the back on the right in the image below) for my fabric doorstop. There were some great variations and some even learnt new skills, having never used a sewing machine before. The doorstops were filled with stuffing and rice and assembled for this very pretty photo at the end of the night!
If you fancy making your own Fabric Doorstop, you can find a pyramid shaped doorstop pattern here and the Guardian Making Time series published a Chicken Doorstop Pattern here. Let me know if you try one!
To join the mailing list for the Cambridge Cath Kidston Craft Club, please telephone the store on 01223 351810. Thank you to Leanne, Jen and the Norwich store ladies for a great evening once again!

Next time you must get a place and we can final meet and craft together
How cute are they!! I suddenly feel an overwhelming desire to create cute little doorstops for every door in my house. And I mean every door! They look fairly manageable if you’re short on time too…
Looks like you had a brilliant time, you’re getting me jealous now as there’s no Cath Kidston near my hometown

You will have to come for a little visit to Cambridge one day – the store is huge and so lovely! Look forward to seeing any doorstops you create x
I like them very much! I’ve been thinking about making a doorstop for my friend for Christmas as she is using one of those horrible plastic wedges at the moment. Thank you for sharing the pattern, and it looks like you had another wonderful evening. x
Oh yes, pretty fabric one beats plastic wedge any day! x
Ooh lovely, lovely, lovely!

Great idea. Have you decided which one of your doors will be the lucky one?
I think this will be for my craft room/guest bedroom!
I’d like to share the Liebster Blog Award with you, please accept with my best wishes. If you would like to visit my blog you can find all the details! x
Thanks Sue!
Ooh they’re lovely!
They are lovely. I’ve seen the chicken ones before, and as I have a bit of a “thing” for chickens, I may try making one now that you have pointed me in the direction of a pattern.
I like the photo with all those doorstops lined up together.
don’t they all look gorgeous! i love the fabric you chose
it sounds like such a fun craft club!
i am very tempted to have a go at one of these myself now! x
I wanted to stop by here to say thank you for commenting on the blog scraping post. Your kind words mean a lot. I’m replying here, because there wasn’t an email address with your comment.
About this post…I just LOVE this door stop. It’s so cute and the fabric is adorable.
Thank you Karen for stopping by!
Sounds like you have lots of fun. The cake sounds like a very good idea. All the doorstops look great.
I love the doorstop. It is such an unusual shape and you can have so much fun choosing fabrics for it.
They do look nice all together – shame you only need one at a time!
The doorstops look lovely. Especially made in Cath Kidston fabric. I had no idea they did craft nights. Thanks again for some more wonderful blog links. You have so much information. I could spend for too much time on your blog.

I bet you have a real good time at the craft club. Sewing, cuppa and cakes sound good to me.
It really is my perfect evening!
Love the chicken!
It’s good to have a bit of a get together with like minded peeps, I’m sure there was lots of gossip and a fair few laughs along the way. Love the doorstops.

Thanks Jan, there certainly were lots of laughs and it was good fun. Great to come away with something handmade at the end of the night too.
How adorable are these!! LOVE THEM!! They would look STUNNING by my doors. hehe
Thanks so much for sharing this at The DIY Dreamer.. From Dream To Reality!
What a great project, they look so pretty!!!! I’m hosting a new We Share Wednesday Link Party and would love for you to join in!
Thanks Julie, I’ll be sure to stop by your link party
Love the door stops … the chicken variation is fun too! What did you fill them with? I guess they need to be quite heavy … =D
They are filled with stuffing at the top and then rice.
That sounds like a nice combination … soft, but heavy! =D
