If you have been reading my blog for a while now, you will know I have a slight obsession with craft swaps. They combine my love of crafting, post and pretty packaging. With each one I’ve participated in, I’ve challenged myself to make something I have never tried before. You can read all about my previous swaps here and here.
The latest swap I participated in was the Handmade Gift Exchange by Craftaholics Anonymous which used a snazzy website called Elfster to connect you with your giftee. For this exchange, my giftee was different to the person who I received a handmade item from.
I was so chuffed to receive this wonderful embroidery of a camera in a gorgeous little hoop from Polly of JaKandGEEGEE - she must have found out I like photography from looking at my blog. I really love the colour and can’t wait to hang it up!
My giftee Heather, was located all the way in California so I contacted her to ask her likes, dislikes and if there was anything from the UK she wanted me to send. She told me she collected postcards and enjoyed baking so I found some traditional Cambridge ones and wrote some recipes in a card. Having just learnt to crochet, I made a crochet clothes hanger in pink – my first crochet project following a pattern! I don’t know she liked it as it hasn’t arrived yet, fingers crossed…..
Check out all the other lovely gifts that were sent and received here.
The next exchange takes place in November. If you are interested you can sign up for a reminder email on their website.
What do you think of my gifts this time?

I think that they are great. The crochet hanger looks really good but I bet it was hard to package!
Thanks! It was a bit tricky and I finally found a giant envelope & bubble wrap after much hunting. Should have thought of that before!
No far too boring!
Thanks for the lovely comments about your gift, I’m so pleased you liked it!
Thanks for the lovely gift! It really was SO me! x
The embroidery is so pretty, I agree: the colours are a delight. You hanger is really lovely too, I can’t believe you’re only a beginner in crochet?
Thanks Raphaele, I have practised my crochet a lot and taken 2 courses
I am soo impressed with your crochet skills hun and I love the hanger, reminds me of hangers I had as a little one made by my grandmother
The embroidery is so pretty you were very lucky x
That means a lot coming from you! Thank you xx
Claire, I love the hanger!!! You should make these in a whole range of colours. I’d fill my wardrobe with them!! xx
I wasn’t sure about it at first but have had lots of nice comments so may make some more! Definitely good for crochet practice too. x
This is a fantastic idea! I have never heard of this before but I would love to get involved! I can’t seem to get the website to load though :’( I’m also VERY jealous of that embroidery! I also love photography it looks stunning!
Thanks for stopping by Hannah. Try again today, the website worked for me. I looked at your crochet squares and I love the idea of one square per day!
It seems to be loading just REALLY slowly! I have managed to sign up to the reminder list though! How do you find out about the swaps? Is it just through search engines? I swear I’m too impatient to wait until November! Haha! I like doing one a day as I don’t get fed up of doing them but I still feel like I’m making progress! Plus it means I can work on other little projects on the side!
Most of the swaps I do, I have found out about on Twitter. If you can’t wait for November you should sign up to the one by Popular Crafts magazine, it’s every couple of months. Click the links in the first paragraph of this post for more info x
Aah ok, I have Twitter but I am pretty useless with it! I’ll have to brush up my Twitter skills! Thank you!
Lovely gifts Claire! I’d seen the camera embroidery already, didn’t realise it was from a swap – it’s gorgeous.
I wish I was more crafty so I could do things like this!
You should try one! It’s a great way to learn crafty skills – I wasn’t much of a sewer or crocheter before I started them and people do all sorts of things including papercraft, needlework etc!
What a fun exchange, I have two wonderful new craft friends and I enjoyed the lovely gift I got. Fun and I hope they do it again!
So glad you enjoyed it too. I would love to see what you sent and received!
How fun! I need to join! -Marci
That’s super cool! And love the minut colour! Hope you’ll have a wonderful Day.
